Biography

Sarah Josephine Adams is a PhD candidate in Dutch Literature at Ghent University (2016-2020). Her FWO funded project Slavery on Scene. Representations of Slavery on the Dutch Stage of 1800 examines performances of slavery in the Netherlands in an age of significant ideological and political change (1770s-1830s). The project aims to contribute to the understanding of the complex cultural production generated during Dutch colonialism, and its legacies in modern Dutch society.
